This past week the whole
country world experienced the a major Ransomware attack called WannaCry. This is one of the largest ever cyber attacks that impacted over 100 countries at the same time taking down thousands of computer systems and networks.
There are many different types of malware that can infect a device and these include those that are meant to steal your information, spam you with ads or just erase your data. However, Ransomware is different. It is a type of malware that prevents you from accessing your device and data stored on it until a specific amount is paid to the hacker. Ransomware locks computers, prevents apps and software from running and encrypts the data stored on it.
Due to this Ransomware attack, critical infrastructure including banks, airports, police departments and telecom networks were affected.
Here are a few steps to help you stay same from a Ransomware attack

- Keep your operating system and anti malware updated.
- Delete suspicious emails
- Use a Firewall
- Be careful of Click Bait Ads
